After Kevin Hart Disaster, The Oscars This Year Will Go Host-Less

After Kevin Hart Disaster, The Oscars This Year Will Go Host-Less

The Oscars this year can't catch a break. After the drama of the 'Popular Film' category, as well as Kevin Hart being fired from the role of host after some anti-gay Tweets, the Academy Awards has decided it doesn't need a host and will go ahead without one - for the first time since 1989 when it was a complete disaster.

A spokesperson for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed to that the Feb. 24 telecast will go on without a main host. Instead, there will be an array of presenters throughout the ceremony, including Awkwafina, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Tina Fey, Whoopi Goldberg, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lopez, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Amandla Stenberg, Charlize Theron, Tessa Thompson and Constance Wu.

ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke acknowledged Tuesday the lack of certainty about a host since Hart stepped down had proved worrying.

"I have to be honest – it did [prove worrying]. It no longer does. I’ve ironically found that the lack of clarity around the Oscars has kept the Oscars really in the conversation and the mystery has been really compelling. People really care.”

We'll see how this pans out.
