JAY-Z and Eminem Sue The Weinstein Company for $800,000 đŸ˜±

JAY-Z and Eminem Sue The Weinstein Company for $800,000 đŸ˜±

JAY-Z and Eminem, two of our favourite rappers, are both suing The Weinstein Company for close to USD$800,000. JAY-Z claims The Weinstein Company owes him USD$240,000 USD for each of his contributions to 'TIME: The Kalief Browder Story' and 'Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story', while Eminem says he has only received USD $48,000 for the 'Southpaw' soundtrack and merchandising rights and USD$352,000 is still owed to him. Both lawsuits were filed in Delaware and a hearing as been scheduled for Tuesday.

The name Weinstein has been bound in controversy for multiple sexual assault allegations over the past year. Although Weinstein is no longer employed by the company, it bears his name. The Weinstein's company has also been accused of not paying Quentin Tarantino and actors Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Lawrence. The company filed for bankruptcy in March but is still liable to pay these figures if these lawsuits are successful.

The Weinstein Company was supposed to be sold to Lantern Capital, a private equity firm based in Dallas, however the lawsuits are throwing a spanner in the works as the firm cannot be sold while it owes its partners money.

Stay tuned as we're sure this isn't the last we'll hear about this lawsuit.
