Kanye West Apologises For Those Slavery Comments

Kanye West Apologises For Those Slavery Comments

Back in May, Kanye found himself in hot water after he made some pretty insensitive comments to TMZ about how slavery is a choice. He said: "When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years? That sounds like a choice. You were there for 400 years, and it is all of y'all?" Now, on Chicago radio station WGCI, he apologised for the comments he made.

He started off by saying that Trump "cares about the way black people feel about him, and he would like for black people to like him like they did when he was cool in the rap songs. [Trump] got an ego like all the rest of us, and he wants to be the greatest president, and he knows that he can’t be the greatest president without the acceptance of the black community."

In regards to the TMZ situation, Ye said he never "approached or addressed the slavery comment fully" because "it’s not something for me to overly intellectualize."

"I’m sorry for the one-two of the MAGA hat into the slavery comment. And I’m sorry for people who felt let down by that moment," he said. He also addressed his diagnosis of bipolar disorder, saying that his condition makes him "ramped up".

"I’m not blaming mental health," he clarified, "I’m just explaining mental health."

"It’s going to be a new Kanye West, and it’s going to be better. . . It's going to be better because of this mental health situation, it’s going to be better because of this TMZ situation.”

The apology seems to come as Kanye re-hired Scooter Braun as his co-manager alongside John Monopoly who managed him for his first 10 years until 2008. Despite complaining that he "can't be managed", it seems he needs it.
