McGregor Guarantees Mayweather Knock Out Inside Four Rounds

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor came face to face for the first time in public yesterday for the first of four international press conferences in the lead up to their 12-round super welterweight clash.

They shared the stage at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles where they solidified their reputations as two of the biggest trash talkers in sport as they promoted their forthcoming fight.

McGregor took the stage first, alone, in a pinstripe suit but was soon joined in a dramatic fashion by Mayweather wearing a ‘The Money Team’ jumper and was backed by his bodyguards and entourage. As soon as McGregor had his chance behind the microphone, he pointed out Mayweather’s outfit and said: “He can’t even afford a suit anymore! The Rolls is a 2012 outside. He is fooked!”

McGregor also added he would knock Mayweather out in four rounds. “There’s no other way about it. His little legs, his little core, his little head. I’m going to knock him out inside of four rounds, mark my words.

“The movement, the power, the ferociousness. He’s not experienced this. He’s fought people who have shied away from him. I don’t fear this limited set of fighting. This is a limited set of rules that makes this half a fight, a quarter of a fight. If this was a true fight, it wouldn’t even take one round. […] What can I say, I’m a young, confident, happy man that has worked extremely hard for this.”

Mayweather kept quite throughout McGregor’s jabs and even looked a little uninterested at times. His time came soon enough, however, and he unleashed on McGregor.

He seemed to put an end to the discussion when he asked his assistant to bring him his backpack and pulled out a $100 million cheque.

“He look good for for a seven-figure fighter, he look good for an eight-figure fighter,” Mayweather yelled to the crowd. “But motherf**ker, I’m a nine-figure fighter. This b**ch made three-million dollars his last fight. But we know that’s training camp money for me.”

At this point we knew it was done. Mayweather had won the verbal bout but it got a little more interesting when McGregor fired back saying Mayweather should give the money to the US government in response to the IRS saying Mayweather owes $22.2 million in taxes from 2015.

It got better though.

Mayweather said: “You right, I’m the IRS. I’m gonna tax your ass!”

It was done. He had him. Mayweather was obviously anticipating the attack and McGregor should have been more prepared for a counter-response; he never should have brought up money.

Mayweather continued saying he’s not the same fighter he was but knows he can still beat McGregor and also brought up McGregor’s three losses by submission saying: “We know Mr Tapout like to quit and you will.

“You going out on your face or you going out on your back. Which way you want to go? Which way do you wanna go?”

McGregor still didn’t have anything to say and Mayweather used this to his advantage saying: “That’s right, be quiet you little b**ch.”

It all ended with a traditional, exaggerated stare down where Dana White performed his well-rehearsed attempt to seperate them.

Mayweather and McGregor will meet again in Toronto, New York City and London for the remaining dates on their press tour this week and will meet in the ring 26 August at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
