Rhymefest & Drake vs. Yeezy

Rhymefest & Drake vs. Yeezy

Let's go back to November 2016 - Chicago rapper Rhymefest bought Kanye's childhood home for the purpose of a community arts incubator and temporary hub for Donda's House - a charity established to honour Kanye's mother Dr. Donda West and support Chicago's youth in the arts.

Considering all that drama surrounding Ye right now, Donda's House issued a pretty intense statement concerning Yeezy himself:

“While we cannot and do not speak for Kanye West and his views, we can and will speak up for the youth that we serve. We ask that those who feel hurt, angered by or frustrated with Kanye West not penalize or throw away their support, respect and advocacy for us.”

“We ask that as you boycott and protest Kanye West, that you not forget that we are a non-profit organization that like other non-profits needs donations, corporate support and volunteers. We do not want your rejection of Kanye West, to be a rejection of Dr. Donda West and the thousands of lives she impacted including her own son. As we prepare to launch our summer programming, we have been bombarded with inquiries about Kanye West. As we seek support to convert Kanye’s childhood home into a recording studio, museum and learning space – we have been unable to secure the financial support of Kanye despite multiple attempts, and despite those early conversations about his plan of support and advocacy for the youth in our programs.”

Rhymefest then called out Kanye himself. He tweeted; "@Drake when G.O.O.D. Music sends the money they owe you, will you please help us rebuild Kanye’s mothers house for the youth of Chicago. I spoke to Kanye about it. His response was 'fuck the youth of Chicago.'"

Rhymefest got Drizzy involved considering the beef between Drake and Kanye West and Pusha T, made popular by a slew of diss tracks. Drake also invoiced 'G.O.O.D. Music' via a screenshot on Twiter. Rhymefest used this 'invoice' to draw attention to West's abandonment of the organisation.

Understandably, Kim Kardashian leapt to her husband's defence by blasting Rhymefest and claiming he abandoned the charity. She said; "You have the audacity to use Kanye's mom's name to try to shed a negative light on Kanye... You're over levergenging Kanye's name & asked Kanye to donate to u so stop w your fake community politics and lies. Truth is you haven't been able to sustain the foundation."

"You were trying to get Kanye to listen to your sub par beats... You thought you were really worthy to be on this album... You better believe I will make it my mission to take Donda's House from you and let my children run it the way it should be run!"

Rhymefest's response is below:

After Kim's defence, a representative for Donda's House Inc. says it will no longer use Kanye's mother's name.

Stay tuned - we're sure this won't be the end of this drama.
